I’ve lived in Austria for 3 and a half years now, and the Olpererhütte hike has been my favourite experience I’ve had here so far. The view is unmatched, overlooking the clear blue Schlegeis Reservoir surrounded by the snowcapped Alps. Olpererhütte is a ski hut located at the top of one of the mountains surrounding the Schlegeis Reservoir, which is where the hike begins. The Schlegeis Reservoir is considered to be one of Austria’s most famous, and definitely one of its most beautiful dams.
